Our second trip to India and Nepal has ended with the conclusion that it was even more enjoyable than the first. For one thing, we were more comfortable understanding how things work over there. We were used to the road experiences, the airport requirements, the way you need to be flexible and accommodating. What's on the menu might not be available, but what you get might be better than what you wanted. That's kind of the story of India. Here are a few photos that I worked on during the trip. There are MANY more to come.
Our first stop was Varanasi, a city we visited two years ago and we insisted on returning to this trip. It is intense, to say the least. One of the oldest continuously-inhabited cities on Earth. This is where Hindus prefer to die or be cremated or have their ashes spread, and there are cremations going on around the clock. One of the most surreal moments of our trip: seeing kids flying kites in the background of the cremation grounds. Death is the most natural thing in the world, here.
