I'm thinking about something lately: It's this: The idea that I'm going to die is going to kill me. Do you know what I mean? If you do, I'm interested in hearing your story.
For me, it means that of late I've realized I'm on the other side of young. My future's not indefinite, the opportunities are not limitless, there is a time limit. DEADLINE. Or, maybe DEAD (space) line. Completely different emPHAsis on the other syLAble I'm not liking it much but it has spurred me into a level of activity I haven't felt since I was about 18 years old and itching to graduate, get a job, get an apartment, move out, start college,
Only now, it's x8 years old, itching to paint a picture, play a piece on the piano, go on a trip, take a class, learn the drums, cook a dish, speak a new language, meet a new friend, visit an old friend.
There's so much to do.
Ah, well, being on the other side of the halfway point does prompt some thought, and often action. Fellow blogger Maggie in Montreal (http://www.golding.ca/maggie/) ppted for laser surgery for her eyes, tattoos, nose stud, navel piercing, learning to scuba dive, and a tropical vacation.
By coincidence, our church just finished a series of sermons on “30 days to live,” meaning, what would you do if you knew you had but 30 days to live. I passed that along to Roger Ebert, and his response was: “Stop counting.”
On a more philosophical note, you will find that the fear of death decreases as you become older and the creaks and groans become a permanent part of your life. In short, there will come a time when death will be a welcome release from this world and not something to be feared.
Until then, live life to its fullest, not selfishly but as part of the big picture of being a decent human being.
From reading your blog, and the photos of the cats, I’d say you are a most decent person and a good friend to many, so you are already well on your way.

Bruce, your comment says you understand what I'm feeling 100%. Thank you. I will go visit Maggie post haste. I live my life by the motto of "do the right thing" so I hope there are no regrets at the end.
